David P. Roelofs

David Paul Roelofs, 61, of Lake Ann passed away peacefully on August 4, 2025 surrounded by his wife and girls. Dave was born on October 4, 1963 in Jenison, Michigan to the late Eugene Dale and Estelle Bernadette (Fischer) Roelofs Sr. At the age of 7, his family moved to Lake Ann where they started The Roelofs’ Resort in downtown LA and ran it for many years. He graduated from Benzie County Central High School.

On August 31, 1991, he married his love of a lifetime Wendy Lober. Together they raised 3 girls and shared so many wonderful memories.

Dave started his career with Kellogg Wholesale where he worked for 17 years. He then went on to Paul Maurer General Contracting where he became a beloved project manager. He didn’t just build houses; he built family homes and relationships that lasted for years.

Dave will be remembered for his big heart, his love of family, his joy for life and his faith.

Dave is survived by his wife of 34 years Wendy; their daughters Stefanie (Jeremy) Knapp, Allison (Julian) Damer and Abbey Roelofs; grandchildren Harper and Hunter Knapp, Maxwell and Dominic Damer; brothers Dale (Sandra) Roelofs, Bob (Sharon) Roelofs, Greg Roelofs, Kris (Lisa) Roelofs; Uncle Del (Phyllis) Roelofs, In-Laws Bob and Judy Lober, his Aussie Piper and secretly loved cat Marilyn, and many beloved nieces, nephews and dear friends “Uncle Dave” will live on in the hearts of many.

A celebration of Dave’s life will take place at their family home, “up at the barn” that he built alongside his son in law Julian, on Friday, August 29, 2025 from 2-6pm there will be a short service, led by Dave’s friend Justin and an afternoon of celebration, doing it up “Dave Style”. All are welcome, please come as you are to celebrate this oneof- a-kind man.
