Richard was born September 26, 1947 in Chicago the son of Clarence and Helen (Morrow) Hermann. On April 28, 2007 in Traverse City he married Janet (Pero) Hermann who survives.
As a young man Richard served his nation in the U.S. Army. He earned his Bachelor’s of Science in Business Administration from Michigan Tech University. He also earned a Masters Certi_cate in Science in Taxation from St. Paul University and his CPA from the University of Illinois.
Richard was independent and accomplished in business and he always doed the “I’s” and crossed the “T’s”. As developer he was conscious of the environment while blending quality and aesthetics in his creations. He developed a state of the art o e building in Albuquerque, New Mexico which earned the O e Building of the Year from the National Manufactured Housing Congress Award. Richard was honored to have had lunch with President Ronald Reagan. In Traverse City he developed Woodcreek, Tamarack Lodge and the Alta Vista complex in East Bay Township.
Richard loved tinkering, especially with his 1947 ~ 2025
motorcycles and classic cars. He enjoyed boating on Lake Leelanau. Richard was tough and resilient. He was a man of grit and doing tasks the right way with no corners cut.
Richard is survived by his wife, Janet, her three children, Ellen (Bill) Korreck, Renee (Seth) Harris, Nicole (Landon) Meggison; two siblings, Jean Hermann, Shirley (William) Partman; four grandchildren, Joslyn Shanoski, Zoey & Brody Meggison, Elijah Harris; nieces and nephews, Mahew Partman, Elizabeth Craig, Andrew Hermann, Peter Hermann and special friends, Bill & Gina Mueller, Ronald & Nancy Pranzaroni, Peter & Rena Johnson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Clarence and Helen Hermann.
Cremation has taken place and private family services have been held.
