Dennis Wencel Korson, 65 years old of Traverse City, Michigan, born to James and Monica Korson on September 3rd, 1959, passed away August 18th, 2025, surrounded by family. Dennis grew up in Lake Leelanau with his parents, James and Monica, his four brothers, and two sisters. Dennis attended Leland school in kindergarten, then went to St. Mary’s school in Lake Leelanau in first gradeandgraduatedin1978. Dennis had a passion for woodworking after he graduated, and worked at a lumber yard in Lake Leelanau. In 1985, he formed a business called Northwestern Moulding and Doors in his parents’ back building, and Jeff Schaub joined with Dennis, and then moved the business to Traverse City, MI. Dennis enjoyed spending time with his kids and watching sports and Nascar racing with his brothers, and Dennis was always willing to help out his brothers and sisters around their homes. Dennis is survived by his children: Daniel (Shayna Farren) Korson, Kristyn ( Mike) Garcia, Kelly Korson, and companion Sara Hysmith, mother of all three kids of Traverse City, MI. James Korson of IL., Jerry(Karen)Korson of South Boardman, MI. Karen (Jeff) Schaub of Jenison, MI. Marian( Jim) Barbera of Traverse City, Robert (Lori) Korson of Traverse City, Greg Korson of St. Joe, MI., several nieces and nephews. Dennis is preceded in death by his parents, James and Monica Korson, and niece Karen Willow Schaub. Services will be held Friday, August 29, at St. Mary’s Church, with visitation at 10 a.m., funeral service at 11 a.m., and burial at 1 p.m.
