Audrey Carmichael

Audrey Carmichael
Audrey was born March 29, 1933, in Royal Oak, Michigan to Harold and Selma (Mikolowski) Kettner.
She graduated from Royal Oak High School in 1950, and married Allan Carmichael in 1951. They moved their young family to the Glen Lake area in 1960 where they owned and operated the Dune Valley Motel for over 30 years. Audrey also worked at Glen Lake Schools for many years, where she loved being around children and attending their sporting events and concerts. She was a longtime member of Glen Arbor Women’s Club and Empire TOPS group and treasured the many friendships she built throughout her life.
Audrey was quick-witted, spirited, and had a zest for life. She often said more with a look than words. She travelled extensively with her sister Geraldine, was a lifelong sports enthusiast, and had a passion for knitting, animals and sports cars.
Her kind and generous spirit touched many lives. Audrey filled countless shoe boxes at Christmas time for Operation Christmas Child and knitted hundreds of sweaters for impoverished children around the world. She was always quick to help whenever needed. She loved her family and took great joy in caring for her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed.
She is survived by her children James (Christine) Carmichael, Robert (Stephanie) Carmichael and Carole (Larry) Galla and her grandchildren Matthew Galla, Alexandra (Evan) Galla-Williams, William Jackson, Stephen McPherson and Matt Day.
A celebration of life will be held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Disabled American Veterans.
