Elizabeth Ann Derrick
Elizabeth Ann Derrick

Always known as Ann, she was born in San Francisco, California. Her family moved around the Southwest until they eventually settled in Royal Oak, Michigan when Ann was 7 years old. She attended Royal Oak Schools where she was in the Major Work Room. She then attended Kalamazoo College and Wayne State University, getting a degree in anthropology while working at DuMouchelles Art Auction House. She married Brendan Burrows in 1979 and they had two boys, John Cosmo Burrows and Joshua Angus Burrows. After 10 years of living on a sailboat, the family moved to Glen Arbor, Michigan where they opened the Good Harbor Grill and Glen Arbor Botanicals. Ann was a dyslexia tutor, President of the Glen Arbor Art Association, an avid reader, and was often seen at the library. She was a beloved wife, partner, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, teacher, mentor, and friend and she will be missed more than words can express. A memorial for Ann will be held next summer. If you would like to make a donation in her name, Ann was a longtime supporter of the Best Friends Animal Society.
