Harolyn Reynolds
Harolyn Reynolds, 88, passed away peacefully on January 24, 2024 at French Manor Assisted Living in Traverse City, Michigan.
Harolyn Brown was born April 10, 1935 to Harold and Wilma Brown of Evansville, Indiana. She graduated from Benjamin Bosse High School in 1953, and attended the University of Evansville.
On her birthday, April 10, 1955 she married the late Donald (Don) Reynolds at Bethany Christian Church in Evansville, Indiana. They made their home where Don was stationed at Fort Bragg and started a family and later returned to Evansville where they raised their three children.
Many family vacations to Traverse City, Michigan evolved into a move to the area in 1971. A home with rental cottages was purchased in Burdickville on Glen Lake where the family resided for the next 30 years. Harolyn worked at W.T. Grants in Traverse City and eventually at Glen Lake Community Schools as a librarian. Mrs. Reynolds was a memorable figure for those who attended the school over the years.
Retirement led to traveling the country for several years in their RV, with a home base in Livingston, Texas. They also visited Mexico, Alaska and China. In 2010 they decided to move back to the Traverse City area to be closer to family. Harolyn and Don were very active in the Central Methodist Church, and volunteered at Cherry Festival, the State Theatre, the Bijou, and the City Opera House.
Harolyn is survived by a son, David (Rebeca) Reynolds of Kalamazoo, daughter Barbara (Mark) Lund, grandchildren Christine, Mallory, and Allen Lund, all of Maple City.
Harolyn was predeceased by her husband Don, and a son Michael Reynolds.
A service will be held in the spring at Central Methodist Church in Traverse City.
The family would like to thank Reynolds Jonkhoff Funeral Home for their assistance, and the staff at French Manor and Hospice of Michigan for their wonderful care and support.
