Hope D. Figgis
Hope was born on October 4, 1935, in Detroit, the daughter of Richard and Margaret (Lillibridge) Delbridge.
On October 14, 1961, she married Haugan “Fig” Weld Figgis, who preceded her in death in 1995.
Hope was born and raised in Detroit, she attended Wayne State University and earned her master’s degree from the University of Michigan. Over the years, she called several places home, including Cleveland and Kalamazoo, but it was Northern Michigan, where she found her true sense of place and lived for the past 56 years.
A lifelong caregiver, she dedicated her career to helping others, working with the elderly at Leelanau Memorial Hospital and later serving the community through Catholic Human Services and Northern Healthcare Management in Traverse 1935 ~ 2025
City. Her compassion, kindness, and steady presence touched countless lives and left a lasting impact on all who knew her.
She is survived by her daughter, Margaret van Galen (Marcel); her stepchildren, Jan (Charles) Dalheim and Robert (Mary) Figgis; and her grandchildren, Luke van Galen, Dylan van Galen, Kathryn Figgis (Justin Hoffman), and Elizabeth (Cameron) Barker.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Fig.
Cremation has taken place, and private family services have been held.
