Alice Janet Lovelace

Janet was born on January 26, 1932, in Flint, Michigan to Robert and Hazel Pennington.
On July 1, 1950, Janet married Floyd Lovelace, and they eventually moved to Midland, Michigan where they soon filled their home with three beautiful daughters. In 1980, Floyd and Janet moved to Maple City, Michigan, where they built their dream home on the shoreline of Little Traverse Lake. Their home became the cherished vacation destination for their daughters and grandchildren, who loved to visit to enjoy the lake and its peacefulness with Janet.
The lake served as a backdrop for Janet’s passions, which included a love for painting scenes of Leelanau County, leaving her family with beautiful works of art to remember her by. She also spent countless hours creating lovely gardens around her home. She found great enjoyment in the Died October 11, 2025 simple pleasures of all things lavender, in scent and color, and in watching old western movies and Law & Order, a pastime that brought her countless hours of entertainment.
Janet will be deeply missed by her family, which includes her three daughters: Diane (Joe), Kelly, Mary Reder, and Kathy Lovelace, eight grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren. Her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her, including her best friend of nearly 90 years, Eva Otiepka.
She is preceded in death by her mother, Hazel Pennington, father, Robert Pennington, stepmother, Helen Pennington, husband, Floyd Lovelace, granddaughter, Sarah Kelly, and her beloved dog, Max.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
