BIG RAPIDS - Jennifer Lauren Atkinson passed away on October 13, 2025, in Big Rapids, Michigan. She was 37 years old.

Born on June 20, 1988, in Traverse City. Jennifer spent her early years surrounded by the natural beauty of northern Michigan. Her life was rooted in the communities of Cedar and Maple City where she formed lasting bonds with family and friends. She loved nature and could be found rescuing all kinds of animals and exploring the outdoors.

Jennifer is lovingly remembered by her son Gary Detora and daughter Florence Mercado. She is also survived by her father Gregory Atkinson, stepmother Alice English; her mother Kristin Diotte; her brother Gregory Atkinson and sister Janie Atkinson; her paternal grandparents, Robert and Patricia “Pat” Atkinson, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents and her cousin Dakota Atkinson.

Jennifer’s memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved her. May her memory bring comfort to those she leaves behind.

Cremation has taken place and services have been held.
