Wherever Jennifer arrived, she was most likely carrying something marvelous – a beautiful platter of homemade delicacies, a freshly cut bouquet, or a rare find from one of her favorite antique shops. The presentation was as showstopping as the gift itself, exquisitely arranged with meticulous attention to detail. Her artistic talents were also evident in her flare for fashion and design. With a faultless sense of style, she wore the outfits we all tried to emulate and filled her homes with unique objects, eccentric art and thrifted treasures. Everything she touched was more beautiful once she placed it in just the right spot. Her creativity extended to the kitchen where she cooked up beautiful meals for her friends, families and neighbors.
She was deliciously funny. Often selfdeprecating, always lightning fast, and usually slightly twisted, Jennifer’s sense of humor put everyone at ease.
As a baby, her parents, Scott and Susann Craig gave her the nickname Jiffy because, “she arrived in a Jiffy” two months premature. Always tiny, her size did not reflect her spunk and fierce stamina. She was a fighter through and through. Jiffy was fiercely devoted to her children, beloved twins Sam and Alden.
Jiffy grew up in Chicago, attending Francis W. Parker School, where she met her future husband, John Knight. After studying at Beloit College in Wisconsin, Jennifer worked in the fashion industry at the Apparel Center in Chicago as a sales representative and designer. John and
April 24, 1963 ~ November 25, 2025 Jennifer welcomed guests to their lovely homes in Chicago, Toronto, London and Winston Salem. Throughout her life, Jennifer vacationed in Leland, Michigan where she developed deep friendships and created many happy memories – lording over the candy jars at The Limited, LTD, her mother’s shop in Fishtown, captivating campfire audiences with her spirited stories and dazzling everyone with her graceful waterskiing skills. She was such fun to be around.
She was a generous and loyal friend and a true champion of underdogs. Those who love her know that Jennifer survived some hardships in life. But the hilarious, bittersweet stories she fashioned from her experiences were triumphs of humor and wit, stories that left you crying with laughter and marveling at her diamondsharp mind. Jennifer is preceded in death by her husband John Knight and parents Scott and Susann Craig. She leaves behind her children Sam and Alden Knight, sister Amy Coleman, niece and nephew Sadie and Henry Coleman, aunts Sharon Craig, Jane Kiernan, Marylou Coe, uncle Don Coe, cousins Chris and Peter Kiernan, Kathy Riley, Caren Leith, Michael Field, Will and Callie Craig, and stepmother Carol Bawden.
A celebration of Jennifer’s life will take place in the summer of 2026 at the Old Art Building in Leland, Michigan. In lieu of flowers, consider a donation to ABC of NC 905 Friedberg Church Rd. Winston-Salem, NC 27127. Or, in her honor, check on a neighbor in need, prepare a meal for someone you love, text a friend your favorite song or call someone and make them laugh. That’s what she would have done for you.
