Lisa Marie Laskey

Lisa Marie Laskey

Lisa Marie Laskey, age 54, passed away peacefully on December 16, 2025, at her home in Cedar, Michigan, following a courageous and determined battle with cancer. She was surrounded by the family she loved so dearly. Lisa’s deep love for her family fueled a remarkable determination to embrace every possible moment with them. Her strength and perseverance in the face of illness were a testimony to her devotion and her vibrant spirit.

Lisa lived most of her life in Leelanau County, where she was a talented cosmetologist by trade. Her interests were vast. In addition to her cosmetology license, she held a real estate license, CNA certification and worked in the family business with Landscape Design. Her creativity, however, extended far beyond her professional work; she was a gifted gardener and homemaker who brought intentionality and beauty to everything she touched. Among her most cherished places was the family cabin in the Upper Peninsula, where she found true peace and rest in the quiet of nature.

Lisa’s greatest earthly joy was her family. On October 18, 2003, she married Allan Laskey, and together they built a life rooted in love and devotion. As a mother to Hannah and Madeline, she led with her whole heart. Lisa especially treasured her role as a grandmother; her eldest granddaughter, Joie, was the light of her life, and Lisa was overjoyed to fulfill a final wish by recently welcoming twin granddaughters, Eliza and Violet.

Known for being fiercely determined, Lisa was a woman of action. When she set her mind to a task, she saw it through to completion. She expressed her love through tangible acts of service: thoughtful gifts, a meticulously kept home, and delicious meals that served as the centerpiece for family gatherings.

During her illness, Lisa experienced a profound spiritual renewal. She gave her heart fully to Christ and was baptized on November 11, 2023. Through her faith, she found peace in the biblical promise of the Second Coming. She now rests in Jesus, awaiting the blessed hope of the resurrection.

Lisa is survived by her devoted husband, Allan Laskey; her daughters, Hannah (Logan) Scott-Moore and Madeline Laskey; her beloved granddaughters, Joie, Eliza, and Violet Scott-Moore; her mother, Mary Alexander; her sister, Sherry (Kevin) Chandler; and her brothers, John Day and Cecil Day, Jr. She was preceded in death by her father, Cecil Day, Sr., and her mother-in-law, Karen Laskey.

Though she now rests from her labor, Lisa’s legacy of love, creativity, and faith lives on in the hearts of those she left behind.

Funeral services were conducted at 11:00 AM, Sunday, December 21, 2025, at the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Traverse City, Michigan, with visitation beginning at 10:00 AM. A luncheon followed in the church fellowship hall.
