Erma was born on November 5, 1928, in Highland Park, Michigan, to Dr. Henry Moore and Julie Moore. She spent many years living in Birmingham, Michigan, before later relocating to Midland, Michigan.

Erma was the mother of two sons, Daniel Chalup and Jeffrey Chalup. While in Midland, she worked in real estate and operated a home construction business. She was an active member of the hospital auxiliary and the P.E.O. women’s group for many years.

Erma and her late husband, Robert B. Whittaker, enjoyed golfing and sailing in and around Lake Michigan. They also spent winters in Florida and traveled extensively throughout the world. In 2007, they sold their hotel business in Midland when Robert retired from his law practice, and they moved to Traverse City to spend their later years.

Erma was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Robert; her brother, Henry; her sister, Anne; her sons, Daniel and Jeffrey; her daughterin- law, Mary-Kate; and her stepson, Thomas.

She is survived by three stepchildren, as well as many grandchildren and greatgrandchildren.
