Cody James Scheuerman

Cody James Scheuerman

Cody James Scheuerman of Traverse City died unexpectedly on February 11, 2026 at the age of 33.

Cody was born on July 29, 1992 in Traverse City, Michigan to Roger and Kathy and was the youngest sibling to Kelly and Ryan. From a young age, Cody’s personality was larger than life - like breaking his foot dancing to Garth Brooks at two years old. Cody, Ryan, and Kelly shared countless adventures during their childhood, particularly in their backyard. Their escapades included constructing ziplines and sending a fearless Cody racing down the steep driveway on toy cars, skateboards, and roller blades. As a family they took many trips to see family in Kansas and Virginia, as well as vacations to Mexico and Hawaii. Cody was always active and loved to skateboard and snowboard. He graduated from Traverse City West High School in 2011 where he enjoyed playing football, wrestling, and placed second at a state competition in powerlifting. Cody attended Michigan State University and was a die-hard Spartan fan and was a member of the Delta Chi Fraternity. After graduating in 2016 with a degree in Biomedical Laboratory Diagnostics, he along with his close group of friends took a trip exploring the West including climbing the Half Dome. After moving back to Traverse City, Cody became the youngest Farmers agency owner and met the love of his life, Betsy and his daughter Emma whom he absolutely adored. Cody quickly became part of the Howell and Hidden Hill Acres family. Cody proposed to Betsy on their farm on December 14, 2021 and they were married at that same spoton July 16, 2022. As a family they loved to travel and one of their favorite vacation spots was Disney and Universal.

Cody is survived by his wife, Betsy and his daughter, Emma. Parents, Kathy (Lynn) and Roger (Lucille), brother, Ryan (Jessica), sister, Kelly (Casey), niece, Tegan, mother-in-law, Mechthild “Mecky” ( Jeff ), his extended family and a very close group of friends.
