Patricia A. McGinty

Died February 25, 2026 SUTTONS BAY – Patricia Anne McGinty, 87, of Suttons Bay, passed away on Wednesday, February 25, 2026, at Munson Medical Center, surrounded by her loving family.

Pat was born on March 3, 1938, in Cleveland, Ohio, the daughter of John and Helen (Mihlan) Kozarik.

In 1956, Pat graduated from St. John Cantius High School in Cleveland. After graduation, Pat began her career with Ohio Bell, working in bookkeeping and accounting. She later worked for Minnesota Fabrics. A gifted seamstress, she was an avid sewer who enjoyed crocheting and creating beautiful pieces for her family.

Pat met Terry at a bowling outing hosted by the young adult’s club at Holy Family Parish in Parma, Ohio and it was love at first sight. After dating, they were married On May 6, 1961, at St. Wendelin Church in Cleveland. They honeymooned in the Poconos before beginning a beautiful life together in Parma. They raised six children and built a home filled with love and lasting memories. In 1972, due to a promotion, the family moved to Livonia, Michigan.

A devoted mother, Pat proudly served as a den mother for her sons’ Cub Scout packs and dedicated more than 15 years to both the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, in which all her children participated — several earning the rank of Eagle Scout. Known affectionately by her children as the family’s “Domestic Engineer,” she was truly the CEO of the household.

Family camping trips were a treasured tradition. Pat and Terry spent many years camping with their children at North Higgins Lake State Park, Wilderness State Park, and Traverse City State Park — making memories that would last a lifetime. After Terry’s retirement, they moved to Suttons Bay, where they embraced their next chapter together.

Pat was a member of the Red Hat Society and sang in the choir at St. Mary’s Church in Lake Leelanau. Her faith and family were the foundation of her life.

Pat is survived by her beloved husband, Terrence H. McGinty; her children, Teri and Lyndsey Little, Michael and Dana McGinty, Daniel and Theresa McGinty, Timothy and Kim McGinty, James and Jennifer McGinty, and Sean and Sheryl McGinty; 21 grandchildren and 21 greatgrandchildren; and her sister, Carol and brother-in-law Jerry Starre.
