Donald Raymond Ranville
Donald Raymond Ranville

Don retired from General Motors in Flint, Michigan in 1998, and moved to Cedar, Michigan (Leelanau County), which he described as God’s country.
He shared the love of Golf with the many friends that he met and played golf with at Sugar Loaf golf course in Cedar. After living in Leelanau County, for fifteen years he shed his heavy winter coats and moved to sunny Spring Hill, Florida.
Don was known for his great sense of humor and could quickly turn someone’s frown to a smile with his wit. He was a kind and generous man and his love for life shined through his smiling face. He found great joy in knowing that he had developed a stronger personal relation with God through the trials that his illness brought him.
Don was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Shirley for 42 years, and “The Best Dad Ever” to his daughter Debbie, his sons Don Jr. and Anthony (Tony), and his stepson Robert. He had four grandchildren, Elise, Britney, Ryan, and Shaun.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Hood Ray) of Spring Hill, FL., his son Don Jr. and wife Barbie of New Haven Michigan, son Anthony Ranville of Port Charlotte Florida, four grandchildren, 6 brothers and sisters: David, Dennis, Mary, Martin, Gerard, and Laurie, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
