Northport – Harry “Duane” Moore, 80, of Northport, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Orchard Creek Supportive Care in Traverse City, MI, surrounded by loved ones.
Duane was born January 22, 1944, in Detroit MI, the son of Harry and Lavern (Hanks) Moore. His wife, Joan (Weaver) Moore, survives.
Harry Duane proudly served his nation in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. He was employed in the auto industry in Lansing, MI, and retired in 2000, at which time he and Joan relocated to Northport. Duane was a fisherman and hunter and truly enjoyed the beauty of the area and all it has to offer.
Duane enjoyed art, especially drawing portraits, and he gladly shared his talent as a volunteer with the Northport Performing Arts Center. His most notable contribution was a collection of large portraits of several famous jazz artists and the Beatles hung as backdrops on the stage at related performances.
Duane spent the last years of his life at Orchard Creek Supportive Care and was always appreciative of the care he received there.
Duane is survived by his wife Joan; two daughters, Melissa Christensen, Julia Moore; two granddaughters, Emma and Sophie Christensen; two nieces and a nephew. Duane also treasured his lifelong friendships with, Terry, Larry & Steve who shared many great memories over the years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Trancie Good, and a brother, Kenneth Moore.
