Submitting an obituary or death notice

Submitting an obituary or death notice

The Leelanau Enterprise considers the deaths of Leelanau County community members as important news. As such, we place these notices near the front of each published paper, for easy viewing.

The cost to publish an obituary is based on the length of the obituary, and subsequently the space required in our paper which would include a photo, if submitted.

We work with area funeral homes to assure that obituaries are published accurately and in a timely fashion. If you are working with a funeral director who is unfamiliar with the Enterprise, please ask them to forward the obituary information to us, and we will work with them to get the obituary published. Additionally, you may place the obituary in our paper independently, in which case you should forward to information to us directly. We will follow up with a proof and a cost for publication.

The Enterprise does not charge to publish a death notice. Death notices included the name of the decedent, the dates of birth and death, as well as service information. Free death notices do not include a photo or any personal details about the decedent.

Obituaries may be emailed to obituaries@ leelanaunews.com for most efficient processing. You may also send by mail to 7200 E.

Duck Lake Road, Lake Leelanau, MI 49653. Please verify that we received your submission by calling 231-256- 9827.
