Carl grew up in and around Stillwater, Kaw and Ponca City, Ok. He played football, wrestled, and ran track and field for Ponca City High School. He won the Oklahoma State Championship title in wrestling, earning himself a scholarship to Michigan State University. While at Michigan State University in Cass Hall, which was the 1st coed dorm, is where he met his beautiful bride, Judy. His career spanned 34 years, and an abundance of friendships were made and cherished from his teaching and coaching years. Many times, after retiring, former student/ athletes and fellow teachers would come to visit him at Glen Lake. Besides his love for teaching and coaching he also enjoyed hunting, fishing, biking and playing cards. In the summer you could find him teaching anyone who was interested in learning to waterski. There are many who learned to waterski from him around Glen Lake. Judy and he moved to the house they built on Glen Lake once retired in 2000 and enjoyed their winters in The Villages, FL.
