Died August 09, 2026 Traverse City – Barbara Ann Rufli, 90, of Traverse City, passed away peacefully Sunday, August 9, 2026 at her home at Boardman Lake Glens.

Barbara was born on May 26, 1935, in Trenton the daughter of Cameron and Marguerite (Franklin) Waldorf. She grew up in Trenton, Michigan, where she graduated from Slocum-Truax High School. After high school, Barbara worked at A&W.

From a young age, Barbara spent summers in the Leelanau area, where she fell in love with the beauty and peacefulness of Northern Michigan. It was a place that would remain close to her heart throughout her life.

Barbara later met the love of her life, Jim, and on October 5, 1959 in Trenton they were married. Together, they built a life filled with family, love, and many cherished memories. In 1990, Barbara and Jim retired to Omena, making Northern Michigan their home. In her later years she enjoyed a good cigarette and Corona. Barbara was best known for the love she shared for her family through her baking and cooking. She loved making special treats for family and friends, and there was always something delicious coming from her kitchen. Her Christmas cinnamon rolls and famous Christmas cookies were treasured family traditions. She made any holiday feel special for her grandkids and ensured that everybody got a holiday or birthday card. Barbara also took great pride in preparing delicious Thanksgiving dinners for her entire family, bringing everyone together around the table. For Barbara, cooking and baking were more than just something she enjoyed—they were a way of showing the people she loved how much they meant to her. Barbara will be remembered for her generous heart, her love of family, and the warmth she brought to so many lives. Her home, her kitchen, and her traditions will forever hold special memories for those who knew and loved her.

She is survived by her daughters, Susan Light and Linda (Tom) Schaub; her grandchildren, Adam Skiba, Cameron (Kori) Skiba, and Asher Buhl; her brother, Theodore “Ted” Waldorf and many loving nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Cameron and Marg Waldorf, and her loving husband, Jim.

Barbara leaves behind a legacy of love, family, and cherished traditions that will continue through the generations. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Graveside services and burial in Hillcrest Cemetery, Omena will be at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday, August 18th.
