Lynne F. Waskin
Lynne F. Waskin

Beloved teacher, mother, sister, and spouse Lynne Louise (née Fisher) Waskin died of causes related to Parkinson’s disease on August 13, 2026, in Rochester Hills, Michigan. She was 84.
Daughter of Russell C. Fisher and Louise Henning Fisher, Lynne was born Nov. 16, 1941. She grew up in Toledo, Ohio, and graduated from DeVilbiss High School with the class of 1959 before attending the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where she earned a bachelor’s and a master’s degree. Lynne worked as a reading and learning specialist in the Livonia Public School District for more than 40 years, spending much of her career at Randolph, Roosevelt, and Cass elementary schools. She built lasting connections to students, some of whom kept in touch long after graduating, and she maintained lifelong friendships with colleagues, including her regular luncheon and bridge club groups.
Following retirement, Lynne continued to enjoy reading, tennis, pickle ball, and cheering on the Michigan Wolverines. Dedicated to wellness and fitness, Lynne pursued her favorite activities well beyond the early stages of her illness. More than anything, she loved spending time at her second home in the “up north” town of Glen Arbor, Michigan, near the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, where she is remembered by a community of friends for her enthusiastic presence at card games, parking lot cookouts, and tea parties with neighbors’ grandkids.
Lynne is survived by her husband Jim Osweiler, sister Kathy, son Dave, daughter-in-law Alejandra, niece Brooke, and ex-husband Steve. No funeral will be held, per Lynne’s wishes.
