Deb was born May 18, 1956 in Detroit the Daughter of Coleman and Grace (Stanczyk) Gayhart. On September 18, 1976 at St. Michael’s Church of Suttons Bay she married Joseph Herman.

Deb was a woman of many talents. She spent years as a beautician in Traverse City before she began working in the banking industry as a loan officer for both Traverse City State Bank and Traverse City Catholic Credit Union. In addition to her other life experiences she spent years enjoying serving others as a bus driver for Suttons Bay Schools and an EMT for Suttons Bay Fire and Rescue.

Deb was a devoted wife, loving mother, and proud grandmother. She and her husband, Joe, cherished the time they spent together at their cabin in the U.P., creating many wonderful memories.

Deb had a generous heart and was always willing to help those in need. She was a talented seamstress who could knit, sew, and crochet, often handcrafted clothes for her family. When Deb wasn’t busy helping others she enjoyed reading books and baking.

Deb is survived by her husband of 50 years, Joe; two children, Natalie (Chad) Megill, Joe (Jessi) Herman., a brother, Coleman (Pegg) Gayhart; and three grandchildren, Tess Megill; Joseph Jr. and Jasper Herman.

She was preceded in death by her parents, and a sister, Diane Spencer.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 23rd with the Rosary to be Prayed at 7:00 p.m. at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay.

The funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 24th at St. Michael the Archangel Church with the family greeting friends at 10:00 a.m.

Burial will follow in St. Michael’s Cemetery of Suttons Bay.
