Roger was born March 14, 1952 in Cadillac, the son of Otto and Mary (Riplow) Mattison.

Upon graduating from Cadillac High School, Roger enlisted in the United States Navy out of Cadillac, Michigan. He proudly served on active duty from 1971 to 1973 and continued his commitment to the Navy as a member of the Naval Reserve.

After his military service, Roger, worked for the State of Michigan Department of Corrections and Liquor Control Commission, for over 20 years.

Roger loved the outdoors. Fishing, watching wildlife, planting flowers, and spending time at the lake were his favorite pastimes.

Roger is survived by his two sons Joshua (Katie) Mattison, and Jason (Lindsey) Mattison, five grandchildren Makala (Mike) Snow, Haley (Brandon) Fauble, Morgan Mattison, Alexander Mattison, Daisy Mattison, and one greatgranddaughter Magnolia Snow.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers DeVere, James, and Robert Mattison, and two sisters Joyce Norman and Jean Shibler.

Cremation has taken place and private family services have been held.
