Died September 19, 2026 LAKE LEELANAU – Dale Linus Couturier, 79, of Lake Leelanau, passed away Saturday, September 19, 2026 at his home.

Dale was born July 31, 1947 in Lake Leelanau the son of Mady and Irevene (Belanger) Couturier.

Pops will be remembered for his strong faith, easygoing attitude, and love of country. As a young man Dale served his nation in the US Army during Vietnam. Dale attended Kendall School of Arts in Grand Rapids to pursue his dream, although short-lived, his family enjoyed a lifetime of paintings, woodwork, singing and guitar playing. He loved his MSU Spartans, Detroit Lions and was famously known for his patriotic 4th of July fireworks and New Years Eve celebrations.

Pops was a man with a big heart, a thousand laughs, and a positive outlook on life. For almost four decades he worked, with family, at Jade Tool in Traverse City recently retiring this past July. He loved bondo-ing and fixing up “rust buckets”. Pops was a man whose bedrock was family, hard work and the pursuit of a simple life.

Dale is survived by his three Children, Gene (Debbie), Michael, and Tara; Siblings, Dora (John) Korson, Merle Forton, his twin Brother Gayle (Cindy) Couturier; Grandchildren, Dominic, Faith (Michael) Senters, Cassidy, Andrew, and Delaney, Kyle (Mikaela) Walker, Jessica Gray, Sheridan Gray and two Great Grandchildren, Emma Rose and Genevieve.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mady and Irvene, his former wife, LouAnn Avery, and his siblings, Elmer, Rita (Alfred) Priest, Bernice (Keith) Shorter, Bernard, Arthur, John, Gene, Donald, Father Albert, Lavern, Raymond, Joanne (David) Schaub.

Visitation was held from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with the Rosary prayed at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, September 28th at the Martinson Funeral Home of Suttons Bay. The funeral service was held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, September 29th at St. Mary’s Catholic Church of Lake Leelanau. Burial followed in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Father James Siler served as celebrant.
