Irene Huck

Died October 10, 2026

Northport – Irene Huck, 91, passed away Saturday, October 10, 2026 at the Northport Highlands with her family by her side.

Irene was born on September 5, 1935, on her family’s farm in Caro, Michigan, to Nicholas and Mary (Szcygiel) Stoick. She married the love of her life, Richard G Huck on July 6th, 1968, in Livonia, Michigan. Their story began while working together at Chrysler Credit in Detroit. Richard survives her, carrying with him a lifetime of treasured memories. Together they built a beautiful life filled with love, laughter, and countless cherished moments, raising a family and creating a legacy of love that will live on for generations.

After leaving Detroit, Irene spent time in Oscoda and Traverse City before making Northport their home in 1978. Together, Irene and Rick owned and operated the Northport IGA for 12 years, becoming familiar faces in the community they called home. Irene also had a passion for gardening and served as Master Gardener at Northport Point. She found joy in tending to her gardens, appreciating both their beauty and the care it took to help them flourish.

Irene proudly served on the inaugural board of the Northport Promise, an organization dedicated to raising scholarship funds for graduates of Northport Public School to pursue higher education. Her commitment to this mission became especially meaningful as all six of her grandchildren went on to receive Northport Promise scholarships, a lasting reflection of the program she helped establish.

Irene was a vibrant and spirited woman who embraced life with warmth, grace, and enthusiasm. She had a natural ability to make those around her feel welcome and valued. With an eye for style and a love for entertaining, Irene took pride in dressing beautifully and bringing people together.

Whether hosting an elegant dinner party, celebrating the holidays, or simply gathering around the table, Irene had a way of making every occasion special. Above all, her family was her greatest pride and joy. She cherished the time they spent together and the many memories they created along the way.

Irene is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Rick: her son, Todd (Bonnie) Huck, Son-in-law Marcus Stowe: six grandchildren: Autumn (fiancé Matt Barry) Huck, Austin (Haley) Huck, Basil (Shauna) Stowe, Emily (Nate) Kelly, William (fiancé Breanna Buckus) Stowe, and Marcus (Alyssa) Stowe: and five great grandchildren, Hayden, Camryn, Luke, Ben, and Oliver.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her daughter Tracy Stowe, her sister Francis Jackson, and her brother-in-law Greg Smith. She was a beloved wife, mother, motherin- law, grandmother, and friend who treasured her family above all else. She will be remembered for the love she shared, the memories she created, and the lasting impact she made on those fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family for generations to come. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 1:00pm on Friday, October 30, 2026, at St. Gertrudes Catholic Church of Northport. Family and friends are invited to gather with the family from 12:00pm to 1:00pm, prior to the Mass. Father T. Patrick Maher will serve as celebrant.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the compassionate staff at Hospice of Michigan and the Northport Highlands for the kindness, comfort, and loving care they provided. Their dedication and support brought peace and comfort to both Irene and her family, and we will always be grateful.
