Conrad Louis Donakowski, age 87, died on February 11, 2024 at his home in Okemos, Michigan. The funeral will be held at St. Thomas Aquinas in E. Barbara Neese
It is with sad hearts the family of Barbara Ann Neese, 86 of Cedar, MI, announces her passing on February 15, 2024, peacefully in her sleep with her daughter Julie holding her hand. She had been residing at Effie’s Place in Leland following a stroke the previous July. She was born on April 9, 1937, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Arno and Elizabeth (Arens) Rudolph. Barbara pursued higher education after graduating high school, attending Ball State Teachers College.

Elmwood Twp. - Todd Anthony Flees, 49, of Elmwood Township, departed this life on February 13, 2024, at Munson Medical Center with his family and friends by his side. Todd was born on November 15, 1974, in Ypsilanti, Michigan, to Joseph and Betty Sue (Church) Flees.

Susan Jane Finke
Susan Finke died peacefully on February 18, 2024, three months shy of her 100th birthday, at The Highlands in Northport, Michigan. Susan was born in Cincinnati, Ohio, on May 17, 1924, to Harry J. Finke, Jr., and Georgia Strietmann Finke. She graduated from the Hillsdale School and, in 1946, from Wellesley College. She then worked for three years as the personal secretary to Dr. Gustav Eckstein at the University of Cincinnati. After leaving Dr. Eckstein’s employ, she attended Katherine Gibbs Secretarial School in New York City, after which she moved to Washington, D.C. to take a secretarial position at the Central Intelligence Agency. She was promoted to intelligence analyst and remained in that job the rest of her career.

Vern L. Schaub
Vern L. Schaub, 90, of North Branch, passed away peacefully on February 13, 2024, at his home. Vern was born in Lake Leelanau, MI, on July 26, 1933, to William and Violet Schaub. He worked on the family farm and graduated eighth grade at St. Mary’s Catholic School in Lake Leelanau. He later moved to North Branch and worked at Chaso Royco before taking a job with the State of Michigan at Oakdale Center in Lapeer. After retiring as supervisor from Oakdale Center, he worked at Suncrest in Lapeer, MI. He married Lorraine Lange on May 28, 1960, at SS Peter and Paul in North Branch. He was a long-time member of SS Peter and Paul and volunteered for many years. Vern was a passionate gardener and was known for his beautiful flowers and garden, which he kept with for as long as he was able. He had a strong work ethic and a good sense of humor. He gave generously of his time and work to his family, friends and neighbors. One of his favorite pastimes was visiting with passers-by as he worked in his garden all summer.

John Arthur MacNeal, 74, of Traverse City (Solon Twp), MI and Casa Grande, AZ passed away on January 24, 2024 at his home in Casa Grande. John is survived by his wife of 40 years Sharon A Bogucki, son John August “Gus” MacNeal of Wahiawa, HI and Great Falls, MT, sisters Mary Lint of Cedar, MI, Susie Foulke of Hillsdale, MI, and Sara (Dale) Harmelink of Brookfield, WI, 24 nephews and nieces and a large and loving extended family.
