LEELANAU HISTORY
Owners and operators of Discovery Pier in Greilickville, the Leelanau Trail, and other local nonprofit organizations will benefit from more than $2.16 million in state funding as part of a $1.3 billion supplemental spending plan approved by the State Legislature and signed into law late last week. “This came about fairly suddenly and was a bit of a surprise,” said Becky Ewing, executive director of Rotary Charities and Rotary Camps and Services. *** Leelanau County residents ringing in 2019 were greeted with a surprise from Mother Nature beginning New Year’s Eve and carrying into the new year. Over the course of Monday and Tuesday, the county received 7.3 inches of snow, bringing the total snowfall this season to 40.8 inches, according to the National Weather Service observation site in Maple City.

Mild temps frustrating some
