1958 ~ 2024
Marcy Lou (Ackerberg) McGhee, 65, of Baldwin (formerly Suttons Bay), passed away April 5, 2024, at Meijer Heart Center. Marcy was born May 26, 1958, to Betty “Ma” Lorraine (Bergman) and Edward “Ed” Arvid Ackerberg, in Muskegon, Michigan. She graduated from Muskegon Catholic Central in 1976. Marcy married Gary McGhee, July 20, 1991.
Marcy began working at NMEC/Alta Equipment Company as office manager, in August of 2001 and after 19 years, retired in 2020. She also worked in multiple local establishments including the Oasis in Branch, Government Lake Lodge and Sportsman’s Bar of Baldwin (which her parents owned each place at one point).
She was a big fan of the Detroit Red Wings and Detroit Tigers. She loved playing cards, especially Euchre, Shanghai and poker (which she was good at). She enjoyed crocheting, crossword puzzles, watching the birds on the feeder, cheap wine and cooking (she was not a gourmet! LOL).
Marcy was quick witted, had a great sense of humor and was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister.
Marcy is survived by her husband Gary; children Edward (Ruth) Jarvis, Jason (Erin) McGhee and Nicole (Cara Dunn) McGhee; grandchildren Collan, Finn, Evan, Morgan and Sam; siblings Cathy (Russ) Van Zoeren, Tom (Pat) Ackerberg and Vicki Robinson; loving mothers-in-law Judy McGhee and Sue McGhee; best friends Jody Riddle and Linda Eckhoff.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Craig Ackerberg, brother-in-law Michael Robinson and father-in-law Gary McGhee.
There will be a private Celebration of Life at a later date.
