Body

Scott “Animal” E. Bielecki, passed away peacefully after a long battle with kidney disease. Scott, born in Lansing on January 29, 1955, graduated from Grand Ledge High School in 1973. He moved to Leelanau County in 1978 where he quickly became a county icon. Scott was a fun loving, kind and caring man who enjoyed helping anyone he could. He enjoyed listening to the county scanner, snow blowing driveways around his house, cutting all the neighbors grass he could, taking part in security during the Polka Fest every summer, helping his buddy, Al, with anything he could, and had a love for his tractors. Over the last 15 years you could always find Scott no matter the weather, 20 below zero or a 90 degree day doing what he could to make sure the grass was cut, the sticks weren’t laying in the yard, and the goose poop was gone by sunrise. He was always known to be the life of the party. No matter the circumstance, you’d always leave with a story of something funny/crazy Scott did. “Well whada ya know, it’s just kinda one of them dealies”.

Scott is preceded in death by his parents, Edwin and Grace (Babcock) Bielecki, and sister Lexa (Tom) Panessidi, nephew George (Kaila) Soto. He is survived by his brother, Linden (Linda) Bielecki, brother-in-law Tom (Lynne) Panessidi, several nieces and nephews, Joshua (Tina) Bielecki, Stephanie Woods, Kaitlyn Bielecki, Kaila (George) Soto, Tia (Mike) Hicks; as well as great nieces and nephews Lucas, Jaxon, Alexia, Vivienne, and Noah.

He will be greatly missed and fondly remembered by many-- friends, neighbors, family, and even all his doctors and nurses whom he truly appreciated. Everyone who remembers Animal is asked to celebrate his life in your own way or join us for a Celebration of Scotts life at his cabin across from Market 22 to share some of his “crazy, I can’t believe he did that” stories. Details of date and time yet to be determined, details will be posted next week. Everyone knew if the cabin light was on, Animal wasn’t home… so we’ll leave the light on for Scotty.
