Library gets grant
The Leland Township Library has been awarded a $25,000 Thriving Communities grant from Rotary Charities for its upcoming expansion and renovation project. Not only does grant recognition from Rotary Charities signifi cantly help in fundraising efforts, it represents the backing of an influential driving positive change in the region.

Montessori awarded $15K
A county organization is one of seven regional entities awarded a year-end grant from the Grand Traverse Regional Community Foundation. The Leelanau Montessori Forever Foundation received $15,000 to support early childhood expansion at the Leelanau Montessori Public School Academy.

S-B Township amends STR ordinance
The Suttons Bay Township Board approved a revised shortterm rental (STR) ordinance at their Dec. 13 meeting, which will limit the number of occupants and require owners to notify their neighbors, among other things.

Layer up Lakers
In a groundbreaking move, Glen Lake students are ensuring that people stay warm through a coat drive “Layer Up Lakers” organized by the Glen Lake Interact Club. “There’s so many families that are in need during these cold times that probably aren’t able to provide their kids with all of the warm clothing needed,” Glen Lake senior Ella Flores said.

A group organized just last week has wasted no time in organizing a non-profit group to keep the Bay Theatre alive in Suttons Bay. The Bay Community Theater was scheduled to file paperwork with the State of Michigan today, which will allow the group to legally takeover the theater Jan.
