‘Bludgeoned with flagpoles’
‘Bludgeoned with flagpoles’
To the editor: Sheriff Borkovich, as a selfproclaimed “ constitutional sheriff” you chose to be photographed with a presidential candidate who has stated he would “terminate” parts of the constitution. What parts of the constitution are you OK with terminating? Should the 12th amendment go? The one Congress was trying to fulfill when Trump incited a riot at the Capitol to stop the Electoral college count? What about the 140 injuries sustained by your brothers in blue while defending the Capitol — bludgeoned with flagpoles, assaulted with bear spray, repeatedly shocked with electric cattle prods, gas masks ripped off. 04/10/2024 03:54 PM

‘Disdains the rule of law
To the editor: Sheriff Borkovich stood onstage beside a twiceimpeached ex-president (not convicted), who’s accused of sexual abuse and financial fraud, who attacks judges and prosecutors, who allowed police to be bloodied by his insurrectionists, who disdains the rule of law. To this lawless figure, Leelanau’s top lawman lends his tacit endorsement. 04/10/2024 03:54 PM

To the editor: Ms. Jones, in her Thursday 4 April letter to the editor, is incorrect in describing the immigrants flown into our country as illegal aliens as they have a sponsor in the U.S., have passed biometric and biographical vetting and have work permits. 04/10/2024 03:54 PM
‘Disappointing’
‘Disappointing’
To the editor: How disappointing to see our sheriff, who has done such a great job patrolling Leelanau County, on a political stage with a man who sent his supporters to the U.S .Capitol to pound on and beat up U.S. Capitol POLICE OFFICERS. 04/10/2024 03:54 PM
‘Price to Pay’
‘Price to Pay’
To the editor: Inflation is not higher prices, inflation causes higher prices. Inflation is the result of expanding the money supply faster than expanding goods and services. 04/10/2024 03:54 PM

Biochar legislation proposed
To the editor: Chuck Grassley and Sen. Jon Tester, want to study the effectiveness of biochar, a carbonrich material. 04/03/2024 05:09 PM

Planet vs. Plastics
To the editor: It’s time to celebrate Earth Day! The official theme for 2024 is Planet vs. Plastics. 04/03/2024 05:09 PM

To the editor: When we moved to Leelanau County, we knew the area was blessed with pure, abundant natural resources. After joining the League of Women Voters Energy and Natural Resources Committee, I learned how fragile these resources are and what’s required to protect our water, air, and soil. 04/03/2024 05:09 PM

To the editor: A letter to the editor is, unequivocally, not an appropriate forum for fundraising. To be fair, however, it’s less appropriate to have to rely on crowdfunding sites for life-saving care. 04/03/2024 05:09 PM

To the editor: President Biden’s dishonesty when it comes to America’s border enforcement was further exposed when Border Patrol recently admitted it has flown 320,000 illegal aliens from foreign airports into our country. About 2.3 million illegals have been released into the U.S. 04/03/2024 05:09 PM

To the editor: It appears some have lost the value of truth and why we are land of laws. Laws are for the purpose of protecting us from ourselves within a society. 04/03/2024 05:09 PM
Dictator?
Dictator?
To the editor: Webster says a dictator is a ruler having absolute authority, power, and supreme jurisdiction over the government of a state; especially, one who is considered tyrannical or oppressive. The worst and most famous dictators in history are: Hitler, Mussolini, Ferdinand, Marco, Joseph Stalin, Francisco Franco, Lenin, Mao, Kim and Vladimir Putin. 04/03/2024 05:09 PM
