Lawrence Road in Bingham Township will remain a public road, as the county Road Commission rejected a petition to privatize a 0.8-mile stretch of the road at their Nov. 19 meeting. The resident who filed the petition wanted to close the road because of flooding and trespassing, while some neighbors wanted to keep it open to the public due to its scenic nature. 11/27/2024 08:54 AM

The Bingham Township board approved its five-year parks and recreation plan following a public hearing last week. Earlier this month St. Mary K-12 students had the unique opportunity to attend a Native American Heritage presentation, featuring eighth grader Alexa Diaz, a talented jingledress dancer. Suttons Bay Public School celebrated Native American Heritage Month with a special spirit week held from Nov. 18 to Nov. 22. Throughout the week, school staff and students participated in themed dress-up days and activities aimed at fostering pride, awareness, and unity. Students embraced their creativity and cultural appreciation by participating in themed days such as “Rock Your Mocs or Crocs” and “Rock Your Ribbon Skirt or Shirt.” The week also provided an opportunity to spotlight and honor the diverse Native American traditions represented within the district’s student body. 11/27/2024 08:54 AM
