Voter ignorance vs. electorate enlightenment
When candidates, campaign managers and political consultants say their prayers at night they most likely ask that Michigan voters continue to be ignorant. That’s because an illinformed citizen is easy to exploit for political gain. Leelanau County resident donates $2.5 million to Munson A generous donation to Munson Medical Center (MMC) from one local family is set to help others in the community for years to come. Childhood services millage up for renewal
Millages for county services are up for renewal in August, including the historically controversial Early Childhood Services program administered by the Benzie-Leelanau District Health Department. Sara Ebenreck Leeland (Van Raalte)
Feminist, philosopher, and activist, Sara Ebenreck Leeland (Van Raalte) passed away March 5, 2024, at home in Albuquerque, NM, with her son Jered Ebenreck and daughterin- law Amy LaGrange at her side. Sara was born in May 1937 in Leland MI, the first daughter and second child of John K. and Luella M. (Nelson) Van Raalte. Growing up in Leland, next to the river, between Lake Michigan and Lake Leelanau was pivotal for Sara. Environmental ethics, particularly related to water, became a focus in her life. Edwin “Ed” Vincent Blasius, 75, of Springfield, set sail on his final journey on Friday, March 8th, 2024, from Springfield Memorial Hospital. Born in Saginaw, Michigan on March 15, 1948, Ed was a son of Clarence Vincent and Mary Ella Williams Blasius. Ed graduated from Caro High School, and later attended Oakland University where he earned a Bachelor of Science as well as meeting the love of his life. From Oakland, Ed went on to become a diehard Wolverine fan while earning a Master of Science from the University of Michigan. 03/13/2024 11:46 PM
