Donatelli Jr. wins yacht race
The Leland Yacht Club hosted the 80th Championship regatta of the National One-Design class August 15-17, holding 10 races despite threatening weather. Guy Joseph Donatelli, Jr., of Akron, Ohio, emerged as a first-time champion, with his father, Guy Donatelli (a previous winner) as crew. Local sailor Biff Steel took second, with Margo Erme of Akron as crew, while Sara Makielski came in third, with her crew, Jack and James Brugeman, also recognized for the Junior Sailor award. Carol Carlton and Margo Erme shared the Don and Marilyn Pendergast award for female sailors, in recognition of their many years of crewing with various skippers.
