Board reduces, extends staff stipends
The Leelanau County Board of Commissioners had some lengthy discussions on the issue of stipends for government employees this month. Clerk Michelle Crocker and Chief Deputy Clerk Jennifer Zywicki have been receiving $250 stipends per week – at the rate of $25 an hour – to prepare the county budget, manage payroll, and work with an independent auditor. 11/27/2024 08:54 AM

Bahle/ Bunek recount underway
Lois Bahle, the Democrat candidate for the District No. 3 commissioner seat in the Nov. 5 General Election, fell just six votes behind the Republican candidate, Will Bunek, at 1,319 votes to Bunek’s 1,325 votes. With the annual Leelanau Enterprise snowfall contest deadline now closed, Michiganders now await for the most important weather factor in determining their guesses: snowfall.
