Speed limits needed
Speed limits needed
To the editor: For many years, the residents around the Glen Lakes have requested that speed limits be reduced for the safety of walkers, bikers, and drivers. With the passage of a new bill by Governor Whitmer, townships are now allowed to set those limits. 11/06/2024 09:18 PM
Thanks for ‘trunks’
Thanks for ‘trunks’
To the editor: On behalf of the Empire Area Community Center I would like to thank everyone who brought their “trunks” down to Front Street in Empire on Halloween! It was a great show of togetherness and good will with everyone having a wonderful time in support of our children in the Village and surrounding areas. Also, a big Thanks goes to the Empire Methodist Church for supplying free hot dogs, sliders and chips for everyone and to the Glen Lake Women’s Club for their great bags of treats! March Dye Empire. 11/06/2024 09:18 PM

My grandfather’s grandfather was, I believe, an immigrant. My wife’s grandfather’s father was an immigrant. 11/06/2024 09:18 PM

Hunting tradition unifying force
I’ve been looking within for answers to a question that’s pertinent to fewer and fewer people. Why do I hunt? It’s a bit late in life for self-reflection on an activity that has driven much of my spare time in fall, the most beautiful of seasons. 11/06/2024 09:18 PM

Good Samaritans
To the editor: Last Monday evening we were almost home after a long day of traveling from Iowa when a deer came out from nowhere and we hit it (or rather it hit us). We were on M-22 south of Suttons Bay. 10/30/2024 05:31 PM
No blow fall
No blow fall
To the editor: I want to promote a “NO BLOWFALL”. Fallenleaves provide a protective blanket for your gardens which will, over time, turn into mulch. 10/30/2024 05:31 PM

To the editor: Gwenne Allgaier’s tenure as County Commissioner has been marked by rising taxes and more government overreach. We need someone with realworld experience to reverse this trend. 10/23/2024 06:26 PM
A proven leader
A proven leader
To the editor: I’m supporting Mark Roberts for County Commissioner because Leelanau County needs a leader with real business experience. Mark has over 20 years of senior management experience in the pharmaceutical and medical industries, managing budgets over $20 million. 10/23/2024 06:26 PM

To the editor: Rick Robbins—the architect of the disastrous Finance Department separation—has cost taxpayers over $800,000. Robbins, who was ousted two years ago, is running again as a Democrat, and if he returns, it will be a disaster for Leelanau County taxpayers. 10/23/2024 06:26 PM
‘Blame … isn’t leadership’
‘Blame … isn’t leadership’
To the editor: Democrats took control of the Leelanau County Board with promises to fix the so-called mess left by Republicans, yet taxpayers are still waiting for results. Chairman Ty Wessell has had almost three years to lead and find solutions but has only delivered higher costs. 10/23/2024 06:26 PM

To the editor: The Enterprise has provided a valuable service in giving space for local candidates to share their view on issues pertinent to our community. One theme that emerged is the shift from two-year to four-year terms is regarded almost universally by candidates as a positive change that will improve County governance. 10/23/2024 06:26 PM
‘Time for a change’
‘Time for a change’
To the editor: As a County Commissioner, Gwenne Allgaier has supported excessive spending and bigger government, with little regard for our tax dollars. Mark Roberts offers something different: real leadership and accountability. 10/23/2024 06:26 PM
