Vote as an American
Vote as an American
To the editor: If Kamala Harris were the “Republican Woman of the Year” I would not vote for her. Should the Republicans ever nominate such an unqualified candidate I would laugh at them. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM

To reap what is sown
To all those that welcome the cooler and slower months — this is my annual announcement that we have finally made it to September! Truly my favorite time of year, I can’t wait for the fall colors and temperatures to come around. I’ve already observed so many trees in the region changing from deep greens to orange and red shades, especially along roadsides and different hiking trails. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM

I know this is past , but I hope everyone enjoyed the bridge walk. I’m sure everyone knows this is number 29 and I’m also sure everyone will enjoy a number 30. Ours is known as the original small town bridge wall. There are many more now, if there’s a puddle, small stream etc. There’s a bridge walk but we were the first and we are the best. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM
GAP to perform Noel Coward’s ‘Private Lives’
GAP to perform Noel Coward’s ‘Private Lives’
An explosive divorced couple, honeymooning with their new spouses, find they have adjacent rooms in the same hotel and that they still have feelings for each other. If this were the stuff of situation comedies, you would expect the next sentence to have mayhem ensues in it, like an episode of “I Love Lucy.” However, in his 1930 play “Private Lives”, Noel Coward’s genius transforms it into a poignant, witty, and very funny satire about social conventions that restrict us but also civilize us. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM

LEELANAU HISTORY
The owner of Sugar Loaf Resort, Jeff Katofsky, is asking everyone to stay off his property “to prevent any harm” until he can come up with “a solution in approximately 30 days” to the resort’s current problems. Sugar Loaf Resort’s current problems include the fact that it is out of compliance with a 2017 order from the county that the resort be thoroughly fenced off and boarded up in keeping with state Construction Code requirements. *** The Grand Traverse Band last week hosted the first public action toward renewing or writing a new tribal decree regulating commercial and sports fishing in the Great Lakes. The decree affects the lives of many county residents and visitors — and controls the livelihoods of some. “I think it’s very important to everyone in the country because I think the Great Lakes are the crown jewels of America,” said Bill “Bear” Fowler, who fishes commercially off the shoreline of Leelanau through a license issued by the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM
