Sanctimonious sign
Sanctimonious sign
To the editor: The mound of signs entering Lake Leelanau is unsightly and unwelcoming. This must be private property and doubt half the people nor businesses appreciate the view. 08/21/2024 09:15 PM
Price gouging?
Price gouging?
To the editor: Kamala Harris states that food providers are “price gouging” and she will punish them with some new (bad) laws to control pricing. In fact, grocers earn an after-tax profit of less than 2 cents on every dollar earned, a pretty thin profit margin. 08/21/2024 09:15 PM
Ugliness forever
Ugliness forever
To the editor: Dear friends and neighbors: Good news! We may never have to endure another presidential campaign. The bad news is, that would be because Trump made himself president for life! Do we want to listen to Trump and Vance’s anger and ugliness forever? Do we want a president who is woefully misinformed? (You don’t think he’s lying, do you?!) Do we want the free press abolished? Do we want a president who, when he’s dealing with foreign leaders, is so weak and ineffectual that, according to him, he is picked on and bullied? Doesn’t sound very pleasant. 08/21/2024 09:15 PM

Local sailor Biff Steel took second, with Margo Erme of Akron as crew, while Sara Makielski came in third, with her crew, Jack and James Brugeman, also recognized for the Junior Sailor award. Carol Carlton and Margo Erme shared the Don and Marilyn Pendergast award for female sailors, in recognition of their many years of crewing with various skippers.
