‘Wacky’ time in the state capital
This is a wacky time of the year around these parts. Members of the house are itching to get the heck out of here to run for reelection back home which is Job One for them. The onlyproblemisJob Onefor you, if you want any state services, is for them to spend $80 billion of your tax dollars first. That includes everything from state cops to janitors at your local school and everything in between. 05/29/2024 05:59 PM
Service … priceless

To the editor: Reflecting on some of the recent letters expressing opinions on our sheriffs’ recent meeting with President Trump, it is my sincere hope that despite any political differences, as a community we can all express our appreciation for the dedication to public safety and well being that our sheriff and his staff have demonstrated. In a time when cynicism and divisiveness pervade our politics and press, it is my hope that we can put any differences aside and recognize the public service Sheriff Borkovich and his staff provide us on a daily basis. 05/29/2024 05:59 PM

To the editor: Barbara McQuade in her new book, “Attack From Within: How Disinformation Is Sabotaging America” defines disinformation as the “deliberate use of lies to manipulate people, whether to extract profit or to advance a political agenda.” A recent letter to the Enterprise about a County “cultural survey” reinforces the relevance of McQuade’s quote. The “cultural survey” was not “largely the initiative” of Commissioner Ross. 05/29/2024 05:59 PM

Food waste
To the editor: My last letter was about waste as the archvillain causing our environmental symptoms: extreme/temperatures, hurricanes, food shortages, tornado and health risks etc. We are facing global energy transition. 05/29/2024 05:59 PM

To the editor: Having attended the May 13 Leland Township board meeting, I was disappointed to read the Enterprise’s reporting on the DNR dock removal in Leland. Per the story, a DNR proposal to swap park land, detailed in a letter addressed to Supervisor Och, “was not discussed by the Township Board.” The reason, unreported, is the board didn’t know the offer existed. 05/29/2024 05:59 PM
