After 25 years of serving as publisher and editor of “Families First Monthly,” Northport resident Laura Kalchik is bidding farewell with her recently announced special final edition. Deb and Ray Kuhn couldn’t believe their eyes Monday. The Cedar couple, who earlier this month celebrated their 40th anniversary with a trip to France, were shocked and saddened to learn that Notre Dame Cathedral, where they had visited just 10 days earlier, was burning. “It was horrific… heartbreaking to see it in flames,” Deb Kuhn said. Indeed, Paris and the entire world watched as the more than 850-year-old cathedral burned. *** A public hearing will be held Tuesday at the Leland Township Library to determine the need for drain along Schomberg Road. Three “disinterested” property owners will be at the meeting, set for 6:30 p.m. in the Munnecke Room, to determine whether a drainage district should be created to address problems along M-22 in Leland Township. 04/17/2024 05:24 PM

The St. Mary School Physics Class
The St. Mary School Physics Class, under the direction of faculty member Kate Paulson, recently spent an afternoon at the Traverse City Curling Club. Students observed how the fiction created by sweeping and using a heavy granite stone, melted the ice and produced a thin layer of water. This in turn allowed the stone to slide more easily since the friction between the stone and the water is less than the friction between the stone and the ice.
