The Leelanau County Board of Commissioners approved several items as part of their consent agenda at their Feb. 20 regular session, including: - Allowing the sheriff’s office to apply for the 2024 Marine Safety Grant through the Michigan Department of Natural Resources to cover a percentage of the costs of the marine safety program. Tall Ships America, a national sail training organization, recently honored Northport resident Ben Hale as the “sail trainer of the year” for 2023. Voters approve Suttons Bay School millage renewal
The Suttons Bay Public School operating millage renewal proposal overwhelmingly passed in Tuesday’s presidential primary election, with 1,427 people voting in favor versus 474 opposed. The 10th annual Brian Nachazel Snowball Tournament was held in Cedar on Saturday as dozens of people descended on the bare softball fields for a unusually warm tournament.
