Empire Hill Climb draws 500 cars
Cars roared up iconic Wilco Road in Empire on Saturday, with nearly 50 cars racing in the time trial event. Thousands roaming the streets for the biggest event of the year along the forest shores of Lake Michigan. “The Hill Climb went well; we saw beautiful weather, and the crowd was as good as ever,” Empire Hill event coordinator Paul Skinner said. 09/25/2024 04:23 PM

Leelanau County’s chief deputy treasurer and chief deputy register of deeds had their salaries raised by over 10% by the county board of commissioners last week. Northport Council approves nuisance ordinance
The Village of Northport unanimously approved a nuisance ordinance, the first of its kind for the municipality, at its regular meeting on Sept. 12. The adopted ordinance is one that was already in effect in Leelanau Township, Northport Village Manager Jim Dyer said in his monthly report, but includes additional language to the noise portion “to create some objective standards for enforcement of a violation.” 09/25/2024 04:23 PM
