Hoekstra, O'Non compete for drain commissioner job
Since longtime Leelanau County Drain Commissioner Steve Christensen is not running for reelection, the position is up for grabs and voters will decide in the general election who will serve in the role. This year, two candidates, Democrat Faith Hoekstra is running against Republican Timothy O’Non for the job. Community comes together for Leland holiday lights
Thanks to community members that rallied in support of a small town’s most magical time of year, Leland’s holiday lights will be up sparkling and shining bright once again in November. Much like a Christmas miracle, members of the community, whether they were Leelanau County residents or belonged to the Leland Chamber of Commerce, donated enough funds last week and over the weekend to meet the Monday deadline for securing a holiday lights display this season. 10/23/2024 06:26 PM
