To the editor: This newspaper paints a picture of our Leelanau County Board of Commissioners as an acrimonious and dysfunctional body, in part by devoting a great deal of attention to minor issues. To the editor: We are big fans of TART since living near the Leelanau Trail and watching it transform the community around it in a positive way! We now live in Cleveland Township and when using the Heritage Trail, it’s wonderful to see people experiencing the beauty and ecodiversity of the Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore in such a unique and healthy way! As advocates for people with disabilities, we also love that the SBHT trail provides an accessible and truly immersive way to experience the National Lakeshore for people with mobility challenges. The process of creating this next section has been nothing but respectful of the community- using input from a series of public Cleveland Township meetings held in 2018 to inform the route. 08/14/2024 04:33 PM
