To the editor: District 3! We cannot forget the reason we recalled Will Bunek in 2021! Remember his appalling (9/14/21) public statement while attempting to overturn a voter approved millage? Here it is: “So, we’re here when things are wrong, when the people make a wrong decision, we’re here to make sure that does not go on” Commissioner Allgaier questioned. “So you just said that if a vote, a public vote is taken, and we think it is wrong, it’s our job as a constitutional republic to nullify it?” Commissioner Bunek replied, “Yes, that is exactly right.” We cannot go back! To the editor: The Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail provides a wonderful way to exercise, get from one place to another without using any carbon fuel, and slow down to see all that is available. To the editor: It seems near that most of the residents of Leelanau County opposed the extension of the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail within the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore. The 4.2-mil extension will costs $15.5 million — that is $700 per foot! Remember the 1970s? Do we want to listen to Trump and Vance’s anger and ugliness forever? Do we want a president who is woefully misinformed? (You don’t think he’s lying, do you?!) Do we want the free press abolished? To the editor: Kamala Harris states that food providers are “price gouging” and she will punish them with some new (bad) laws to control pricing. In fact, grocers earn an after-tax profit of less than 2 cents on every dollar earned, a pretty thin profit margin. 08/21/2024 09:15 PM
