To the editor: Please vote for Mariann Kirch, for Leland Township Trustee, Steve Scales for Trustee and Clint Mitchell for Supervisor. I know them and they are excellent candidates.

Vote for Ty
To the editor: At their best, Commissioners lead by example, and this is what Ty Wessell does, consistently demonstrating qualities of decency, respect, a willingness to listen, and the flexibility needed to work together. Some of us remember the days when the Commission kept getting stuck in partisan standoff s.

Popa’s legacy
To the editor: John Popa was a passionate critic of the solar panel project at the government center and warned it would be a significant waste of taxpayer money. The Board of Commissioners is set to vote on this costly project before the end of the month.

Solar boondoggle
To the editor: Would you accept $1,000,000 from the government for solar panels, if you then had to spend your own money to buy a fleet of EVs, install charging stations, and pay for maintenance and disposal? This promise is part of the solar project for the government center supported by Ty Wessell. Besides questionable financial and environmental benefits of solar power, switching county vehicles to EV would likely cause the total project cost to surpass any savings over time.

Grant dollars
To the editor: Contrary to rumors and candidate misrepresentations, the construction and administration of a solar project at the County Government Center would be paid for entirely through grant dollars. If the State awards Leelanau County a grant, the solar array could produce self-generated clean energy within a year and immediately bring cost savings of over $35,000 annually.

Support Brookfield
To the editor: Lisa proves her worthiness as our Leland Township Clerk day after day. Her “open door” policy and eagerness to talk to residents about their concerns is refreshing.

Clean energy
To the editor: I wanted to thank the Leelanau County Energy Futures Task Force for working to bring clean energy to Leelanau County. I recently read a research paper prepared by Columbia University titled “Rebutting 33 False Claims about Solar, Wind and Electric Vehicles” that I found so helpful in understanding some of the misinformation presented on these topics.

Vote411
To the editor: The League of Women Voters of Leelanau County wishes to thank the Leelanau Enterprise for inserting the League’s nonpartisan candidate Voter Guide for Leelanau County in this week’sedition. Everycandidate was invited to answer, in their own words, questions provided by the League.

Support Wessell
To the editor: County Commission Dist. 4 candidate Jim White plays loose with the facts and perpetuates misunderstandings that encourage fear of county government.

Growing pains surface in county
In the past year, Enterprise readers have come to know about controversial developments in at least two communities. The proposed expansion of the Northgate Leelanau Pines campground, was turned down twice by Centerville Township planners.

With thanks
To the editor: I want to sincerely thank Al Campbell for his dedication to running Kids Fishing Day. With the support of the Parks Commission, MDNR, the Grand Traverse Band, and many volunteers, Al has helped countless kids catch their first fish.

Support for extension
To the editor: I live in Cleveland Township, I walk the Sleeping Bear Heritage Trail often and I give money to TART Trails. I firmly support the Section 9 extension - and completion - of the trail.
