Waste problem
To the editor: Methane is the major component of natural gas. It is highly flammable and can form explosive mixtures if it concentrates in an exposed space with poor ventilation.

A Steady Hand
To the editor: I have known Susan Och for many years. She is a careful and fiscally responsible steward of our Leland Township funds.

Stop trail extension
To the editor: The TART group, which is not even based in Leelanau County, is out of control with its overreaching attempt to add another segment to the Sleeping Bear National Park bike trail. The proposed amount of money spent is irresponsible for the amount of use the trail gets during the year.

Vote as an American
To the editor: If Kamala Harris were the “Republican Woman of the Year” I would not vote for her. Should the Republicans ever nominate such an unqualified candidate I would laugh at them.

Wessell ‘diligent advocate’
To the editor: We’re writing in support of Leelanau County 4th District Commissioner candidate Ty Wessell. Ty has been a diligent advocate for our district and serves as the commission Chair.

To reap what is sown
To all those that welcome the cooler and slower months — this is my annual announcement that we have finally made it to September! Truly my favorite time of year, I can’t wait for the fall colors and temperatures to come around. I’ve already observed so many trees in the region changing from deep greens to orange and red shades, especially along roadsides and different hiking trails.

Here’s to a successful school year
As summer fades and the crispness of autumn begins to settle over Leelanau County, the return to school is upon us. For students, parents, and educators alike, this time of year is both exciting and filled with promise.

Thank you
To the editor: We were very proud of our township supervisor, Tim Stein, and the members of our Cleveland Twp. Board, when they stood up to the NPS and the SBDNL at their August meeting on the proposed Segment 9 of the Heritage Trail.

Support Ross
To the editor: Kama Ross is running for reelection on the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners. Before she was a Commissioner, I knew her as our District Forester.

Win with Bahle
To the editor: After being recalled by voters and losing the recall election, former District 3 Commissioner Will Bunek hasn’t attended a single Board of Commissioners’ meeting. In contrast, Lois Bahle stayed involved in county government, attending almost every BOC meeting even after losing re-election.

Vibrant community
To the editor: Labor Day bridge walks in Leland and Lake Leelanau were as encouraging as they were inspiring, both radiating a refreshing unity of spirit and effort. Lake Leelanau’s organizers raised funds for community improvements and events, while Leland’s parade-like atmosphere, led by our local VFW, provided a cheerful, patriotic energy.

Kingmakers
To the editor: What we just witnessed was a palace coup. The ruling nobility knew their king couldn’t beat Trump, so they set him up to fail early enough to pressure, cajole, and threaten him to remove the crown with his own hands lest he face the daggers.
