Conley for supervisor
Conley for supervisor
To the editor: Supporting Barb Conley for supervisor is critical for Leelanau Township’s best future. A common sense Democrat Conley has vast experience in governance, finance and administration. 09/25/2024 04:23 PM
Wessell’s clear vision
Wessell’s clear vision
To the editor: While his opponent for Leelanau County Commissioner engages in unfounded fearmongering about the alleged downsides of solar power, Ty Wessell looks ahead with a clear vision for the environment. He has laid out a sensible, sciencebased approach for the county’s energy needs that embraces all appropriate technologies, nuclear and solar among them, and takes a long-term view of the future that can be our legacy for generations to come. 09/25/2024 04:23 PM

Elevate cherries and farmers who grow them
The cherry is queen of crops grown in Leelanau County. Why not give it an official title for all of Michigan? A bill was introduced last week by state Sen. 09/25/2024 04:23 PM
Affordable housing gains have a long way to go
Affordable housing gains have a long way to go
Slow and steady wins the race. But given the lack of affordable housing in the county, the finish line is some distance away. 09/25/2024 04:23 PM
Trust Ty
Trust Ty
To the editor: This summer I slipped into a seat at the Northport Community Band Concert. I wasn’t surprised to see Ty Wessell a row in front of me. 09/25/2024 04:23 PM
Support for White
Support for White
To the editor: I am endorsing Jim White for County Commissioner for his ability to lead people, manage money and pay attention to detail when it comes to being responsible for other people’s money and resources. He has proven this in pursuit of answers about issues such as the Green Energy grant, Broad Band, and the low moral in our government offices. 09/25/2024 04:23 PM
A win for all
A win for all
To the editor: Kama has been an activist and a fighter for the people. She reaches across the aisle coming to compromises with board members that results in 6-1 or 7-0 votes on critical issues. 09/25/2024 04:23 PM
Solar energy, common sense
Solar energy, common sense
To the editor: I strongly urge the Leelanau Board of Commissioners to move forward in adopting solar energy at the Leelanau County Government Center - especially if the county has the good fortune of receiving a state grant to cover the cost. My husband and I installed solar panels 5 years ago at our home in Glen Arbor Township and are extremely happy with their performance. 09/25/2024 04:23 PM

To the editor: Leelanau Township voters will elect a new board in November. In the past few years, turnover has been high for the position of township supervisor. 09/25/2024 04:23 PM
Costs v. benefit
Costs v. benefit
To the editor: The Leelanau Co Board of Commissioners is about to vote on a solar project at the government center that costs 1 million dollars. Supporters claim the project will save 35 thousand dollars a year, however they fail to include the additional expenses required in the contract to purchase electric vehicles to replace the county’s fleet along with the cost of maintenance and charging stations. 09/25/2024 04:23 PM

To the editor: Vote for Tim O’Non for drain commissioner. Let’s put our political views aside and vote with common sense. 09/25/2024 04:23 PM

Barr is genuine
To the editor: Callie Barr offers us a genuine, well -rounded and grounded candidate for our 1st Congressional District . She is of an age and position in life that would bring a real life approach to lessening the many travails our families face. 09/25/2024 04:23 PM
