To reap what is sown
To all those that welcome the cooler and slower months — this is my annual announcement that we have finally made it to September! Truly my favorite time of year, I can’t wait for the fall colors and temperatures to come around. I’ve already observed so many trees in the region changing from deep greens to orange and red shades, especially along roadsides and different hiking trails. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM
Here’s to a successful school year
Here’s to a successful school year
As summer fades and the crispness of autumn begins to settle over Leelanau County, the return to school is upon us. For students, parents, and educators alike, this time of year is both exciting and filled with promise. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM

Thank you
To the editor: We were very proud of our township supervisor, Tim Stein, and the members of our Cleveland Twp. Board, when they stood up to the NPS and the SBDNL at their August meeting on the proposed Segment 9 of the Heritage Trail. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM

To the editor: Kama Ross is running for reelection on the Leelanau County Board of Commissioners. Before she was a Commissioner, I knew her as our District Forester. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM
Win with Bahle
Win with Bahle
To the editor: After being recalled by voters and losing the recall election, former District 3 Commissioner Will Bunek hasn’t attended a single Board of Commissioners’ meeting. In contrast, Lois Bahle stayed involved in county government, attending almost every BOC meeting even after losing re-election. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM
Vibrant community
Vibrant community
To the editor: Labor Day bridge walks in Leland and Lake Leelanau were as encouraging as they were inspiring, both radiating a refreshing unity of spirit and effort. Lake Leelanau’s organizers raised funds for community improvements and events, while Leland’s parade-like atmosphere, led by our local VFW, provided a cheerful, patriotic energy. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM
Kingmakers
Kingmakers
To the editor: What we just witnessed was a palace coup. The ruling nobility knew their king couldn’t beat Trump, so they set him up to fail early enough to pressure, cajole, and threaten him to remove the crown with his own hands lest he face the daggers. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM

‘Brilliant alternative’
To the editor: As a return visitor to the Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore, we appreciate the rare beauty of this pristine wilderness area. We are grateful to be able to experience this unique ecosystem in its natural state, unhindered by urbanization. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM
Project 2025 dangerous
Project 2025 dangerous
To the editor: In red states, conservative extremists have succeeded in banning reproductive rights, causing unspeakable heartache and hardships for countless American women. And now, Project 2025, if implemented, will override reproductive rights in blue states, creating a national abortion ban. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM

To the editor: How to create a socialist state. This is what Kamala Harris intends for America if she becomes president: 1. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM

To the editor: We would like to thank the leadership of the Cleveland Township board in reviewing Segment 9 of the Heritage Trail. We appreciate the board considering the environmental impact and exorbitant costs with other more favorable options. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM
Reelect Ross
Reelect Ross
To the editor: Of all the issues facing voters in Centerville and Leland Townships this November none seem more important than restoring civil discourse and public trust in local government. This is why I support incumbent County Commissioner, Kama Ross, in her continuing efforts to unite residents around shared interests and common sense values. 09/04/2024 03:50 PM
