Teacher assistants help in all ways, always
It’s hard to believe that August is already here, but here we are once again, with autumn just around the corner and the start of school quickly approaching for many families. We recently wrapped up one of our latest special sections at the paper focused on “helping hands,” in which all staff writers got to highlight different people eager to help in our community. 07/31/2024 06:36 PM
‘Urgent message’
‘Urgent message’
To the editor: If you need urgent care you won’t find and in Leelanau County. Munson hospital has satellite clinics around the area, but no in Leelanau County. 07/31/2024 06:36 PM

Whitmer ‘not prepared’ to seek national office
This can not be confirmed but that likely huge sigh of relief heard in our town a week ago Monday, emanated from the executive residence where the First Gentleman must have been counting his lucky stars. 07/31/2024 06:36 PM
Farmer says ‘thanks’
Farmer says ‘thanks’
To the editor: Thank you to the Enterprise, who in both last weeks’ “View” and Amy Hubbell’s Editorial, expressed their support and concern for the cherry growers in this county. Thank you, also, to the folks who buy local cherries rather than cherries from elsewhere and other countries. 07/24/2024 03:46 PM

Glen Lake resets; no bond request
Glen Lake resets; no bond request
As summer construction is expected to button up over the next few weeks for a fresh school year, Glen Lake has decided to take a different path than the last few years have shown. After nearly passing a $34 million bond last November, Glen Lake is flirting with the idea of not going for a bond this November. 07/24/2024 03:46 PM

Democracy needs journalism
That headline is on the bottom of all emails from friend and Michigan Press Association Public Affairs Manager Lisa McGraw. It is a constant reminder of the important responsibility that newspapers must keep in mind and strive to fulfill. 07/24/2024 03:46 PM
The Empty Bus
The Empty Bus
To the editor: Living along M-22 between Northport and Suttons Bay affords me the opportunity to watch the Route 10 BATA bus pass by up to 12 times daily. I regret to report this large bus is nearly always empty, rarely, if ever, with even a single passenger on board. 07/24/2024 03:46 PM
Tax cuts: look both ways
Tax cuts: look both ways
To the editor: We tell children to look both ways when crossing the street. Adults should look both ways when it comes to tax cuts. 07/24/2024 03:46 PM
Thank you
Thank you
To the editor: The Glen Lake Woman’s Club’s Art Fair was a success, thanks to generous community support. Bay Area Transportation Authority drivers shuttled vendors to and from remote parking areas. 07/24/2024 03:46 PM
Kramer ‘ill-suited’
Kramer ‘ill-suited’
To the editor: The audacity of Commissioner Jamie Kramer projecting her very own failures as a public servant onto Commissioner Ty Wessell, a true servant-leader, only highlights how ill-suited she was for her position as a Leelanau Commissioner. And, with regard to Commissioner Melinda Lautner, it’s entirely laughable that she would support Kramer’s questionable narrative of her experience on the Commission. 07/24/2024 03:46 PM
Running Bear thanks
Running Bear thanks
To the editor: Despite the rainy morning, we had 630 runners in the 17th annual Running Bear Run — 545 in the 5K and 85 in the children’s run. Thanks to the Glen Lake community for its support of the run with special thanks to our major sponsors: Cherry Republic, Cottonseed, Crystal River Outfitters Recreational District, Fleet Feet, Glen Arbor Bed & Breakfast, The Homestead, LVR Realty, McCardel Culligan, Northwood Hardware Home and Garden, Sleeping Bear Inn, Sleeping Bear Visitors Bureau and 32 merchants who contributed prizes for the raffle. 07/24/2024 03:46 PM
