Community comes together for Leland holiday lights
Thanks to community members that rallied in support of a small town’s most magical time of year, Leland’s holiday lights will be up sparkling and shining bright once again in November. Much like a Christmas miracle, members of the community, whether they were Leelanau County residents or belonged to the Leland Chamber of Commerce, donated enough funds last week and over the weekend to meet the Monday deadline for securing a holiday lights display this season. 10/23/2024 06:26 PM

Confounds common sense
Confounds common sense
To the editor: Thank you Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa Indians and Cleveland Township for opposing Segment 9’s environmentally destructive and outrageously expensive trail. It confounds common sense there is plan to fragment a globally rare wetland, remove 7,300 trees and decimate massive glacial dunes. 10/16/2024 08:25 PM
‘Misguided decision’
‘Misguided decision’
To the editor: Republican Commission Chair Bunek led the “misguided decision” to create structural financial taxpayer burdens by adding Finance and HR departments without rationale or an implementation plan, undermining the Republican Clerk’s office (5/21/21); Democrats voted no. Most current Republican and all Democrat Commissioners are working to fix this mess. 10/16/2024 08:25 PM
Together … a difference
Together … a difference
To the editor: At a recent County Commissioner forum, I heard: Lois Bahle who had clearly done her homework, presenting compelling reasons for local government to support childcare and affordable housing, clean water, and sustainable energy use — and practical solutions for doing so. Besides her record of leadership, most impressive is her commitment to working in partnership with others. 10/16/2024 08:25 PM
Vote for Ross
Vote for Ross
To the editor: I strongly encourage District 5 Commissioner constituents to vote for Kama Ross. Kama is a dedicated, responsive commissioner who listens respectfully to her constituents and works hard to represent their interests and concerns. 10/16/2024 08:25 PM

Vote for Dems
To the editor: Rick Robbins, Scott Perry, Lois Bahle, Ty Wessell, Kama Ross, Gwenne Allgaier, Tim Dowd: That’s the slate. Choice, freedom, democracy, decency: That’s the platform. 10/16/2024 08:25 PM

Support Campbell
Support Campbell
To the editor: I support the leadership of Steve Yoder District 7, & Alan Campbell District 5, for County Commissioner. A commissioner should have experience owning and running their own business, managing employees, making a payroll and working within a budget. 10/16/2024 08:25 PM
