1932 ~ 2024 Barbara passed on to the arms of angels May 9, 2024, following what she described as a great life with family, friends, her work, sailing and travel, interrupted by Multiple Myeloma. She passed peacefully in her home in Hilton Head Island, SC, without pain, after a one-week decline.

Dock removal causes uproar
A decrepit but popular dock used by boaters visiting Leland has been removed with little chance that it will be replaced. The 96-foot dock, which lined the Leland River at a state-owned boat launch located between the Bluebird and Riverside restaurants, was removed on April 10 by a MDNR crew.

Celebration of grads and culture
Suttons Bay Public Schools’ senior class of 2024 were honored at the district’s annual graduation powwow on Saturday afternoon. Families and friends gathered at the school gym to see their seniors celebrated with a presentation of blankets and an honor song, and there were also dance specials for the men and women, teens and toddlers.
